Today you will be taking a flight to the city of Bhairawa from Kathmandu (around 40 min). After reaching Bhairawa, you will drive through the plains of Terai, a very different sight after witnessing the mountainous and rugged terrain you’ve become accustomed to in the capital. After a short one hour drive you will be in Lumbini, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Lumbini is where Siddhartha Gautama was born and started his quest for searching for the meaning of life. Famous sights here include the Maya Devi temple, where the birth place of Buddha is marked, and the preserved remains of the ancient architecture of the palace. Lumbini also houses the Monastic Zone where there are 29 monasteries as of present, all in tribute to the Buddhist ideals of peace and harmony brought to light by Gautama Buddha himself.
Day 3 | Lumbini to Chitwan: 5-6 hours drive
It will take a few hours drive to go from Lumbini to Chitwan. Home to a well-protected National Park, Chitwan is a nature, animal and bird lovers’ paradise. Most popular amongst the park’s cherished residents include the One Horned Rhino, Bengal Tigers and the Ghariyal crocodiles. During your stay in Chitwan, you will partake in jungle walks, safaris, canoe rides and bird watching activities.
Day 4 | Chitwan Safari
On your second day, you fully immerse yourself into what the Chitwan National Park has to offer.
Enjoy the day tours arranged for encountering the wild animals in the beautiful sub-tropical jungles of Chitwan with excellent hospitality.
Day 5 | Chitwan to Pokhara: 20 minutes flight
From Chitwan you will be flying northwest, a very short flight will get you to Pokhara, the colorful city graced by majestic mountains and pristine lakes. Being such a wonderful destination, Pokhara has over the years equipped itself to adapt to the many visitors who come here wishing to enjoy the beautiful city. Thus there are plenty of things to do here and the options will definitely exceed your choices for the day.
Day 6 | Pokhara Day Tours
For a spectacular sunrise, the hill on top of Sarangkot is one of the best spots in Pokhara. The sun rises slowly from behind the mountain ranges turning into a beautiful orange. After the photo shoots, return back to the hotel for breakfast and prepare for the next activity. A thirty minute drive will take you to the Peace Pagoda which sits on top of a hill. This pagoda style architecture was built as a symbol of peace and it is also a great viewpoint to see down Pokhara valley and the lakeside. An hour’s hike from the pagoda will take you down to Phewa Lake from where you can take a boat back to the main lakeside.
After lunch you can visit the International Mountain Museum which has incredible information and displays of the mountains/mountaineers/flora & fauna and the different cultures of its inhabitants.
