50 years of delivering Himalayan Adventures
Trans Himalayan Tour (P) Ltd (THT) has a long history in the involvement of the tourism industry growth in Nepal. Established in 1968, it is among the first five travel agencies to open in Kathmandu. The founder, Takashi Miyahara, has been a pioneer in introducing trekking in the Nepal Himalayas to the Japanese market as well as opening up the first hotel in the Everest region. Trans Himalayan Trekking (P) Ltd., was established as a sister company in 1973.
The excitement of making itineraries that would captivate the travelers, being able to offer experiences of a lifetime and presenting Nepal to the world are what have driven THT throughout the years. Over the past decades, we have witnessed the transformation in the trekking industry with not only a rise in the number of adventure travels but also the transformation from camping treks to tea house trekking. We have been operating from a time when there were no lodges on the trails, and trekking was synonymous to camping. Throughout the changes in customer preferences over the past 50 years, THT has remained a trusted partner in discovering Nepal and providing tailor made trips. Although we focus on Nepal trekking, we have experiences in many areas including peak climbing, catering to international TV crews, city tours, and have even supported an expedition to try to find the Yeti (the abominable snowman) in the Himalayas.
The true spirit of entrepreneurship to dare to do what had not been done before, to provide service that comes from the heart and not a manual, and keeping alive the spirit of adventure are the basic foundations on how the company progressed.
