Suitable for seasoned hikers and first time trekkers in good physical condition, trek with our experienced guides and porters through the Khumbu region and stay at Hotel Everest View. A highly rewarding way to experience the mountains and the local Sherpa cultures, a trek to HEV will hopefully inspire you to do many more treks in the Nepal Himalayas. We have designed the itinerary so that it provides gradual acclimatization, trekking at your own pace and enjoying the views of Mt. Everest without having to trek further to higher altitudes. This is a perfect trek for those who want to experience a few days of trekking and have access to incredible views in comfort, spend two nights at HEV to really soak in the surroundings and have a base from which further explorations to the Sherpa villages and nearby peaks can be accomplished.
For those visiting during the peak season (March 15th – May 15th and Oct 1th – Dec 5th), it may be possible to take a helicopter shuttle from HEV to Lukla instead of trekking back.

DAY 10:
International departure .
Day 1 | International arrival in Tribhuvan Airport, Kathmandu
You will be welcomed to Nepal with a big smile from one of our representatives who will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. Your accommodation would be booked according to your preference for a relaxing night in the city. We would arrange for you to visit our office in Patan where you will be briefed on the trek itinerary and introduced to your trekking guide.
Day 2 | Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla, trek to Phakding: 35min flight, 3-4 hrs trek. Ending Elevation: 2610m
Take an early morning flight from Kathmandu (1400m) to Lukla (2840m), where the flight duration is approximately 35 minutes. After some rest and breakfast while the guides and porters prepare for the trip, you will begin trekking towards Phakding village (2610m).
Enjoy the charms of the Sherpa villages, the pine tree forests and the gushing Dudh Koshi river as you start your trek. Upon reaching Chheplung village (2660m), the sacred mountain of Khumbu-yul-Iha (5761m) will rise before you. This peak is worshiped by the Sherpas of the Khumbu region as their protector god and based on the lunar calendar, a ceremony offering prayers is held every summer.
Khumbu-yul-Iha provides a constant stream of water to the villages of Khumjung and Khunde, and this water used to be carried up to Hotel Everest View until 2017 after which we had running water from the nearby hydropower.
After having lunch at Thado Koshi, you will reach Ghat village after an hour. Ghat is famous for its beautiful mani stone carvings. It is a gentle start to the Everest region trek and the night will be spent in a comfortable lodge in Phakding village.
Day 3 | Phakding to Namche Bazaar: 6-7 hrs. Ending Elevation: 3440m
The trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar would be the most challenging day of this trip. The trek starts gradually through the dense forests and rhododendron trees, waterfalls and suspension bridges.
The unique shape of Thamerku (6608m) becomes visible after an hour hike from Phakding and you will be entering the Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park from Monjo village. The national park is also a UNESCO World Heritage site as of 1979 and coveres arund 1200 square kilometers.
Right below the old and new suspension bridges, you will begin to understand the task that lies ahead in reaching Namche. There are no settlements in between Jorsalle and Namche and there is a 600m climb involved. However challenging, the trek is doable and going at your own pace takes the pressure off from being part of a big group. The first glimpse of the Everest Massif - Mt. Everest (8848m), Nuptse (7861m) and Lhotse (8414m) can be seen upon reaching Toap Hill on a clear day. It is another 1.5 hours to reach Namche Bazaar. Other notable mountains include Kongde Ri (6187m), Kusum Kang (6367m) and Thamserku (6608m). Once you get to Namche, you can relax at your comfortable lodge enjoy the welcome drinks and take in the vibrant center of Khumbu.
Day 4 | Namche Bazaar to Hotel Everest View: 1.5 - 2 hrs. Ending Elevation 3880m
The climb from Namche Bazaar to Hotel Everest View (3880m) is around 1.5 hours but most guests take a detour and visit the Sherpa Museum before coming up to the hotel in time for lunch. The museum provides interesting information of the Himalayas, an insight in the traditions and cultures of the Sherpas and the flora and fauna of the region. Visitors can also take scenic pictures at the View Point (near the Nepal Army camp) with a statue of Tenzing Norgay and Mt. Everest in the background.
Once the uphill portion is completed, the path leading to the hotel is a charming path across the ridge. You may be able to spot yaks and the Himalayan Tahrs (wild goats) grazing nearby, balancing perfectly on the steep cliffs. An interesting fact about the hotel is that you cannot see it until you are almost in front of it. The hotel is hidden behind a ridge, and the fir trees surrounding the hotel have grown so tall that it provides a natural barrier. Once you reach Hotel Everest View, you will be served a refreshing glass of hot lemon with honey to be enjoyed with the breathtaking view of the Everest range.
Day 5 | Day trips from Hotel Everest View. Ending Elevation 3880m
There are no set schedules for your time at the hotel, we leave it flexible so we can accommodate to however you would like to spend the days. You can simply relax with nature from the comforts of your heated beds or be adventurous and take a day hike to the nearby attractions. The popular day trips are to the 360 degree viewpoint of Khunde Peak (4200m) or a more leisurely hike to Khumjung village, visiting the newly renovated Gumba and the Khumjung school opened by Sir Edmund Hillary.
Day 6 | HEV to Phakding: 5-6 hrs. Ending Elevation: 2610m
Trekking from HEV to Phakding, you will be going back the same route that you trekked up. This time it is mostly downhill, and your trekking poles will come in handy once again. During the peak seasons in spring and autumn when the helicopter shuttle is available (usually March 15 – May 15 and Oct 1 – Dec 5), you can opt to take the heli from HEV directly to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu same day, which will save you 2 days of trekking.
Day 7 | Phakding to Lukla: 3-4 hrs. Ending Elevation: 2860m
It is a fairly relaxed trek today and you will be pushing through the final uphill back to Lukla. Enjoy the last day of trekking and celebrate the successful completion of your trek with your guides and porters!
Day 8 | Lukla to Kathmandu
After another short domestic flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, we bring you back to the city that started your journey. You can relax for the rest of the day or head towards some shopping in town.
Day 9 | Full day sight seeing in Kathmandu
The day can be arranged for some sight-seeing around the famous World Heritage sights in Kathmandu, highly recommended are Patan Dubar Square, Boudhanath stupa and Swayambhunath temple (monkey temple). Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 10 | International Departure
As this epic adventure wraps up, you may already be planning for your next trip to Nepal. A representative from Trans Himalayan Tour will escort you to the international airport in Kathmandu and we wish you a pleasant flight home. All the best until we meet again!
